Went to Hagley Park to see the cherry blossoms.
ハグレー公園に桜を見に行ってきました！

Daffodils were flowering as well. Hagley is full of flowers right now!
スイセンもたくさん咲いていて
今時期のハグレー・パークはとてもきれいです。

Many families were there for walking and cycling.
快晴だったので、散歩やサイクリングを楽しむ家族づれもたくさんいました。
少年も走る！

Also found a Japanese gathering under a cherry blossom tree.
That is so Japanese! In Japan people have social gatherings, where they have food and drinks under cherry blossom trees. They are there to appreciate the beauty of short lived blossoms.
桜の木の下で花見をしていた日本人の集まりも発見しました。

桜を見上げていたら、日本人でしょ？
と声をかけてきたローカルのサイクリスト。
家族が日本にいるのよ～といろいろお話してくれました。
桜がよく似合う自転車とすてきなおばあさんでした。

New trip, Molesworth

The Molesworth cycle trip, starting from this season, is attracting quite a few interests! The first trip going out on the 29th December is almost full. It's doing great for a new product, certainly getting attention of many Kiwi people in search of a next Otago Rail Trail. Visiting Hanmer Springs, NZ's largest farm Molesworth Station, two wineries and Kaikoura - I want to go on this trip too! For more details click here

アドベンチャーサウスが今シーズンから新しいサイクリングツアーを始めます！その名も、"Molesworth Cycle Tour"。

オタゴ・レイル・トレイルに続き、オフロードを走る5日間のツアー。モールズワース・ステーションという国内最大の牧場地帯を走ります。位置はカイコウラを内陸に入ったあたり、南マルボロ地方です。

今はDoC(自然保護省)と農場側が共同で管轄していて、自然保護区域でもあるようです。牧場としての歴史の方が長いらしく、ニュージーランドを象徴するちょっとしたアイコンでもあるみたい。そんなモールズワース・ステーションを走るこの新ツアーでは、カンタベリーの温泉街ハンマー・スプリングスや、ホエールウォッチングで有名なカイコウラ、それにカンタベリーのワイナリーまで行っちゃいます。新しいツアーですが、最初の12月29日出発のツアーはすでにほぼ満席という人気ぶり。ニュージーランド人の注目を集めています。私も行きたいです！

Daylight saving

1st day of spring!
September already, cannot believe it's almost a month since I came back in New Zealand. I just figured out today that the day light saving starts this month, 27th September! Japan doesn't have such system but I like it a lot. It allows us to do things outside after 5pm. It helps us stay active and use less power for lighting at night!

All seems to work well in New Zealand, but probably wouldn't suit for Japan. The longer daylight they have, the more power they use for cooling I imagine. Their summer is hot and humid (in the mainland and southwards), and people cannot function without air-cons on a hot day. Because of no daylight saving it gets so light in the very early morning, like 3am. You'd definitely want to close your curtains right before going to bed, otherwise the sun could awake you 3am!

今日から正式に春です！ニュージーランドの春は9月から。そして今月27日には夏時間が始まります。以前は10月上旬からのスタートだったのに、去年くらいから夏時間の期間が延長されました。日の長いときは夜10時くらいまで明るい。仕事終わってから山に行ったり海に行ったりできちゃうんです。夕飯は庭やテラスでBBQ、なんていうおうちも多いです。

残業の習慣がほぼないキーウィは（少なくとも私の周りは。）まだ明るいからもう少し仕事片付けようか、ってならないんです。アドベンチャーサウスのオフィスは、忙しいオンシーズン中でも遅くても6時前にはからっぽになります。家に帰ってそれぞれ好きなことをして夏をエンジョイしてます。いい環境ですね、ありがたいです。
